Landlord Gets The Ultimate Revenge After Tenants Left His House In A Horrid State

Thomas Ravaux walks through the front door of his house – and into a total nightmare. His renters have completely trashed the place. Garbage litters every corner. But as he comes to terms with the horrific state his home is in, his anger is replaced by a steely resolve. Now, Ravaux vows to exact the ultimate revenge.

We’ve all been there, right? When something makes us so angry that we want to get back at the person responsible. But while we don’t often act on those feelings, Ravaux was hell-bent on getting justice. And it wasn’t just the state of his home that sent him over the edge.

Ravaux’s lodgers had been pushing his buttons for over a year. Apparently, they’d failed to pay their rent – meaning they were effectively staying at the house in northern France for free. And that’s not all.

Ravaux had attempted to contact his renters, of course, but their responses went from occasional to nonexistent. Then, to top it all off, they packed their bags and just abandoned the property. No notice period, no goodbye – the lodgers just moved on.

And the occupants had one more nasty surprise in store for Ravaux: they left the home like a garbage dump. The level of disrespect was off the charts. But if they thought that was the last they’d see of their landlord, they had another thing coming...

Given how awful the place looked, Ravaux’s anger was more than justified. But there was an additional factor at play. You see, his ties to that house went back a long way. This wasn’t just a random home he had started to lease out recently.

Ravaux actually fixed the house himself back in 2008. Since then, it’s been a rental home for people looking to settle in the French town of Rozoy-sur-Serre. And it really must’ve stung seeing all that hard work go to waste. No wonder Ravaux wanted to retaliate!

Mind you, it wasn’t Ravaux’s only rental home. He’s got some other properties that are available to lease as well. One of them in Grandrieu, France, is particularly gorgeous! And as his Facebook page shows, they’re all kept in immaculate condition. We wouldn’t say no to staying in any of them.

It’s hard to believe that the trash-filled home belonged to the same guy. And to make matters even worse, Ravaux had given the house a refresh before the nightmarish tenants had moved in. If only he had known, right?

Yup, Ravaux had tested the pipes and doors across the property. He’d also inspected the paint job and improved the quality of the floor. There had been no half-measures here. He’d wanted the house to look as perfect as possible for the new residents.

Given the lengths to which the landlord had gone, it’s too bad the tenants didn’t show that same level of care during their stay. So, what did the house actually look like in the end? Sure, we’ve given you a taste, but trust us – there’s more to come. Ravaux actually snapped photos of the interior after his renters abandoned the place.

Having documented the mess, Ravaux then dropped the horrifying images on social media. Are you ready to take a tour? Okay then. Brace yourself! Let’s start with the kitchen. And to say it was dirty would be a huge understatement.

The entire room was filled with junk. A sea of cardboard boxes stretched from the doorway to the back wall. The counters weren’t free of garbage, either, and we can only imagine what was hiding in the cabinets. Then there’s the gross fridge situation.

According to Ravaux, there was a lot of spoiled food sitting on the shelves. Given the overall state of the kitchen, we shouldn’t be too surprised. But how did the tenants even move around in that room? It would’ve been the world’s most disgusting obstacle course as the boxes continued to pile up. And that’s not even the most shocking part.

Ravaux revealed, you see, that the renters had kids in the house. Three of them, in fact! No child should have been living in this place. And it only gets worse the further into the home you go. Dare to step inside the bathroom?

Even more junk was stacked in that space. Heaps of clothing appeared to have been tossed around the sink area, too. Good luck having a wash there! Thankfully, we don’t know too much about the toilet situation...

But we can see the bathtub in the corner. There are plenty of bottles around the edge – which would be kind of normal if the rest of the place was clean. We’d love to know how the tenants navigated this bathroom before they left.

Beginning to see why Ravaux was so angry? Well, it’s about to get worse. Remember what we said about the landlord buffing the floors? It was clear all that effort had gone to waste in the next room. We can’t believe those disgusting stains near the wall.

A few sections of floorboard even seemed to be gone completely, replaced by a tray of dark rubble. What happened there? And the room had its fair share of toys scattered across it, too. Yes, kids really had been staying in this house, and it’s hard not to fear for their safety.

A little further back, there was also a leather couch. This, too, was in a pretty awful state. Just look at the cracked and discolored cushions! But if you think this part of the house was bad, just wait until we get to the bedrooms.

One space was rammed with trash. A ton of boxes and bags were dumped on the bed. An old computer could be spotted among the junk as well. And at this stage, we’re wondering how Ravaux’s head didn’t explode. There was so much he had to sift through just to see the floor!

The next bedroom was also in a pretty sorry state. A lone wooden chair stood eerily alone, waste scattered all around it. How did it get this bad? And in another room, even more cardboard boxes were dumped alongside toys and a heap of magazines.

If you’ve got a good eye, you’ll spot a foosball table under all that junk, too... Anyway, for our final stop, let’s head to the hallway. Surely it couldn’t be any worse than what we’ve seen so far? Hmm... we’ll let you be the judge of that.

Horrible-looking debris was peppered across the floor. An old shelving unit was on its back, completely bent out of shape, and a couple of trash bags were propped against the wall. We’ve seen landfills cleaner than this place, and that must’ve hurt Ravaux to the core. No wonder he was mad!

Ravaux didn’t mince his words when he spoke out on the mess. In 2018 he told France Info, “It was carnage inside. Everything was totally destroyed. The parquet is screwed up, there are holes in the walls, all the paint needs to be redone. [And] the smell is unbearable. A bailiff noticed all the damage before the apartment was emptied.”

Looking at the pics is difficult enough, but Ravaux had to experience the stench of all that garbage. We should count ourselves very, very lucky! Mind you, at least Ravaux had a plan. And he dropped a hint in a message on Facebook.

Addressing his former tenants, Ravaux wrote, “Shame on you! [Good luck] to your new owner who rents you a house in Brunehamel.” Somehow, the landlord had managed to find them in another part of France. And that hadn’t proved to be at all easy.

Apparently, Ravaux had scoured numerous lists and records to discover where his old tenants had gone. Luckily, his perseverance had paid off in the end. What did the homeowner plan to do, though? Was he looking to confront them head-on after what happened in his home? In a way, yes!

Vengeance was very much on Ravaux’s mind at that stage. He wanted to get back at the renters for what they’d done to him. And it wasn’t just the state of the house that drove him on. The financial cost of fixing the damage added fuel to the fire, too.

Ravaux told France Info that he’d probably have to spend about €10,000 to get the place back to normal. That’s the equivalent of over $12,000 – a lot of money! So, the landlord plotted an incredibly wild scheme that no one would’ve seen coming – least of all his old tenants.

Armed with a camera, Ravaux traveled to Brunehamel and arrived at the renters’ latest address. And he hadn’t come alone. He’d also brought a huge truck with him, filled to the brim with trash. It contained everything the former tenants had left behind in Rozoy-sur-Serre.

In video footage of the scheme, Ravaux films the truck as it slowly backs towards the house. Then the garbage is tipped onto the sidewalk in truly spectacular fashion. The disgusting debris smashes down in a heap. Satisfying!

The only drawback? We don’t get to see the tenants’ reaction. Oh, and Ravaux also risked getting on the wrong side of the law. You see, littering on the streets of France would normally result in a hefty financial penalty – one equivalent to more than $500.

Ravaux was remarkably relaxed, though. The landlord revealed to France Info, “I met the [local authorities], we discussed [the situation]. It didn’t go too badly. For the moment, I am not worried.” The online response to the video also gave him reasons to be cheerful.

“I received a lot of reactions [on the internet],” Ravaux continued. “All in my favor. Everyone supports me.” Yep, he posted that trash-dumping video to Facebook, too. It became quite the social media sensation, in fact.

Since it was uploaded in June 2018, Ravaux’s crazy clip has had over 1.8 million views. It’s earned more than 3,200 comments, too. And just as Ravaux said, plenty did back his actions.

One person wrote, “Bravo, well done. Phew! Dreadful tenants. All owners should do [this] with people like this.” Something tells us it won’t catch on, but we get their point! Another user responded, “The best satisfaction ever for a landlord. And just maybe a tenant or two out there will appreciate the right to be able to rent a place to live.”

Speaking for plenty of us, a fellow Facebooker wrote, “It is mind-boggling to me that there was that much [trash]. Wow, good for you dude. Way to go. [The] best way to get them back ever.” The online praise didn’t end there, either.

To round things off, one more social media user said, “That’s what they get thinking they were leaving everything. Well here you go, you forgot something. Your trash! Good job Mr. Thomas!” But that’s got us wondering – what happened next? Surely the tenants didn’t just ignore the garbage outside the house?

Well, Ravaux offered an update on that front. He said to France Info, “The former tenants had to clear the sidewalk and bring it all to the recycling center [that] evening. Everything is cleaned.” Did they learn their lesson? That’s not for us to say. One thing is for sure, though. For all the stress he was put through, the landlord got the last laugh!

And at least Ravaux never had to see his untidy tenants ever again. It’s a little different when the person causing all of your problems is a neighbor, though. You can’t just simply get rid of them, as Florida resident Oliver Lynch knows all too well. When his neighbor attempted to claim some of Lynch’s land as his own, the pair got into a unrelenting stalemate. Thankfully, Lynch had a cunning plan.

Lynch was living in Osceola County, Florida. He had successfully survived a peaceful life in the neighborhood for around 25 years. But don’t get us wrong: Lynch was not as easy-going as this description might suggest. And although he was 79 years old, the man was certainly no pushover. As his neighbor was about to find out.

Lynch wasn’t afraid of speaking his mind no matter what the subject, either. “I just hate to be bullied,” he admitted to WFTV in 2015. “I have a little fight left in me, and I hate to see somebody bulldoze over me.” If only the neighbor knew this beforehand, right?

Because when Lynch didn’t see eye to eye with one particular neighbor, he decided to set them straight. The neighbor had recently moved to the area and was building his home on an empty plot next door to Lynch. However, Lynch soon discovered that they were unlikely to become friends.

That’s because one day Lynch returned home to find that the man had annexed a part of his property. In fact, he had laid a row of cinder blocks right down the center of Lynch’s driveway and was actually claiming that the small patch of land was his own. Pretty crazy!

The neighbor had already cemented the bricks down, too! So there was no way for Lynch to easily remove the blocks. It seemed that Lynch was left with little option but to put up with the situation – for the moment at least. But we know he wasn’t going to let it stand for long, don’t we?

According to Lynch, his neighbor’s seemingly hostile move came completely out of the blue. And it’s safe to say, his apparent brazenness shocked and angered the pensioner. “What’s he going to do with these extra few yards of concrete?” the exasperated homeowner asked.

When Lynch failed to resolve the dispute straight away, he had to prove that he owned the land his neighbor had claimed. So he produced some records that stated he was allowed two adjacent 12-foot driveways on his property – but that wasn’t enough.

Why? Because although an Osceola County official confirmed that Lynch’s records were accurate, there was nothing they could do. They therefore advised the pensioner to employ a surveyor – or take his neighbor to court.

But Lynch couldn’t believe that he would have to take legal action against his new neighbor. So before he consulted the courts, he tried to talk to the man on a number of occasions. However, he still had no luck resolving the matter.

Lynch believed that his neighbor’s behavior was at odds with how he portrayed himself. “He said he was a minister or something like that,” he told WFTV. “[A] God-fearing man. But I don’t think that’s very Christian-like.”

So Lynch felt he was left with little choice but to return to the county and hope that an official there would agree to help him. But he believed that he’d have a long, arduous process ahead of him before he could reclaim his driveway. So he thought of another way to fight back.

Yes, he contacted the local media – which agreed to cover the issue. The media also attempted to contact the neighbor, but they couldn’t get him on the record, either. So the stories ran without the neighbor getting to put his side of events across. And the reaction was not good for him!

That’s right: the publicity Lynch’s story received did win Lynch many supporters. “This is not Christian-like at all,” one reader said of the neighbor’s behavior. “You’re destroying what could have possibly been a great neighbor over a meaningless few feet of land.”

Another added, “Way to make an impression on the neighbors. My thinking is that if this didn’t come up before you purchased the property, you are indeed being a bully to the elderly neighbor whose driveway was there before you.”

So it’s safe to say that Lynch’s spat with his neighbor got local people talking. As the days passed, however, the issue remained. Then, a week after the story broke, Lynch contacted WFTV once again.

Lynch revealed that he and his neighbor had made a breakthrough. After lengthy talks, the pair had finally agreed to put their differences aside and remove the row of cinder blocks from Lynch’s driveway.

Lynch also revealed that the man had approached him to tell him that he had meant no harm. After everything, then, it seemed that the issue had been one big misunderstanding.

Unsurprisingly, the resolution was welcomed by the online community. “Happy things work out for this elderly man,” one Facebook user wrote. “He said he doesn’t have much fight left in him. So I’m happy the neighbor let him have his whole driveway back. Praying this issue is finally resolved so this man can live his life in peace.”

Now, hopefully, Lynch and his neighbor have moved on from their skirmish. After all, they would soon be living just a few yards away from each other. And their story goes to show that even the hardest of divides can be bridged with just a little perseverance... That is, of course, unless your neighbor is as bad as this next guy from Pittsburgh.
