Jerry Hall’s Daughter Followed In Her Footsteps — And She’s The Spitting Image Of Her Model Mom

Texas-born beauty Jerry fled her working-class hometown at the age of 16 and headed to the bright lights of Paris, France, to become a model. According to Hello! magazine, she had nothing but a suitcase full of knock-off clothes. Though Jerry’s striking beauty and imposing 6-foot frame got her the attention she needed to make it big.

Before long, Jerry had established herself as a major figure in the modeling world. She graced the covers of titles such as Vogue and Elle, while also fronting major fashion campaigns. Yet little did she know back then that three decades later, Jerry’s lookalike daughter Lizzy would be following in her footsteps.

It’s fair to say that Lizzy’s parents are part of rock royalty. The pair met some time around 1976 and were each icons in their day. The previous decade Mick had risen to fame as the charismatic frontman of British rock band The Rolling Stones. Jerry, meanwhile, was a top model who fronted fashion campaigns and appeared in music videos.

At the time of their initial meeting, both Mick and Jerry were in high-profile relationships with other people. The Rolling Stones singer had been married to his wife Bianca Pérez-Mora Macias since 1971 and Jerry was engaged to another Brit – Roxy Music frontman Bryan Ferry. But sparks apparently began to fly between Mick and Jerry at a dinner party.

According to the model’s 2010 book Jerry Hall: My Life in Pictures, Mick had invited her and the Roxy Music singer over for dinner. She wrote, “Bryan was flattered by Mick’s attention, but he could also see that Mick was smitten with me. It couldn’t have been nice for him.”

The relationship between Mick and Jerry reportedly began in 1978, though he would remain married to Bianca for another two years. Other sources say their romance got underway in 1979 after Jerry left Bryan. Whatever the timeline, the two stars were about to become one of the most iconic celebrity couples ever.

Mick and Jerry personified the hedonistic glamor of New York City’s Studio 54 nightclub. Though their relationship was not without its flaws. There were reports of drama and infidelity, as well as general struggles to get along. For instance, in 1986 Mick told the Detroit Free Press newspaper that Jerry was “impossible to live with” since she had stopped smoking. He reportedly told his partner, “Either start smoking or I’m leaving.”

For his part, living with Mick was apparently not so easy either. In her book My Life In Pictures, Jerry claimed that she got Mick to give up heroin. The model said, “I told him I couldn’t see him if he took drugs, saying, ‘Go away and don’t come back until you’re straight.’ He succeeded – he had amazing willpower.”

At times, Mick and Jerry’s relationship was also prone to break-ups. In 1982 she left the singer to embark on a romance with a rich horse breeder called Robert Sangster. But just one year later Mick and Jerry were back on. And they were getting ready to welcome their first child together, Elizabeth – who would become more commonly known as Lizzy.

Mick and Jerry eventually married in 1990 and would ultimately have four children together. A year after welcoming Lizzy, the model gave birth to a boy named James. In 1992 another daughter – Georgia May – was born. Their final child Gabriel then arrived five years later. For the most part, it seems that Jerry stayed at home to raise their kids while Mick toured often with The Rolling Stones.

The family set up home in an 18th century mansion in the London suburb of Richmond upon Thames. According to her autobiography, Mick wanted his children to attend school in England but his tax status meant that he was often away. And with her husband gone, Jerry would hear rumors of his alleged infidelity.

The model wrote in Jerry Hall: My Life In Pictures, “I was occupied with the children while Mick was busy with the Stones – often leaving me at home on my own with the babies. I kept hearing stories of his dalliances with other women... Although I loved him and he swore [his] undying love for me, I felt unsure of him.”

Eventually, the Rolling Stones star’s absence took its toll on Jerry. She wrote, “Over ten years, the Stones staged five world tours. Mick started to miss important family events – children’s birthdays and our anniversary. I was heartbroken that he wasn’t home in time for the birth of our fourth child – Gabriel – in December 1997.”

The final straw for Jerry came when Mick fathered a child through his extramarital relationship with the Brazilian model Luciana Gimenez Morad. In My Life in Pictures she explained, “I told him I wanted a divorce. Breaking up with Mick was painful. I had been tempted to leave him many times but had put up with his infidelities. However, having a child with another woman was too much.”

Jerry and Mick split in 1999, and his son with Luciana was born in May of that year. Writing about the break-up, the former revealed, “The most difficult part was telling the children. I explained to them that we loved them and were still their parents. Mick and I were determined that, even though our marriage had ended, we would continue to be parents together – and we have.”

Given the backdrop of her parents’ marriage, then, it’s probably fair to say that Lizzy’s childhood was far from ordinary. Recalling the lullabies her father sang to her as a child, she told The Daily Telegraph in 2010, “He would make up himself, most of the time. Either that or sing me ‘Summertime,’ which I loved.”

Growing up, Lizzy had to introduce her boyfriends to the rock legend that was her father. Speaking of Mick’s reaction to her potential suitors, she said, “He would do that look – the dad look. But nothing too bad. Luckily most of my boyfriends were quite cool with the whole thing. I would have hated to go out with anyone who was, like, ‘Oh wow, there’s your father.’”

One of Lizzy’s former boyfriends who was likely to have been unfazed by her famous parents was Sean Lennon. Himself the son of John Lennon and Yoko Ono, he undoubtedly understood what it was like to grow up in the spotlight. Nevertheless, Lizzy later vowed, “I would normally avoid musicians though, and actors.”

Following her parent’s divorce, Lizzy remained close to both her mother and father. Though it was Jerry’s footsteps that the youngster looked set to follow. According to The Daily Telegraph, she had fallen in love with the world of fashion at the tender age of four after attending a Chanel show with her model mother.

Lizzy told the newspaper, “I was blown away by it all. After that, I would go through mom’s cupboards, and it was like having the best kids dress-up box ever.” And thanks to her fortunate genetics, it wasn’t long before Lizzy was spotted herself.

If you look at Lizzy, it’s clear to see that she inherited her good looks from Mick and Jerry. With her seductive stare, long limbs, plump pout and cut-glass cheekbones, Lizzy seemingly shares more than one characteristic with her mom. But she’s previously credited both of her parents for her thick mane of luscious, long hair.

You might be surprised to learn, though, that Lizzy’s first foray into modeling had nothing to do with her parents. The beauty was scouted at the age of 13 during a shopping trip at Dolce and Gabbana, The Daily Telegraph reports. But it wasn’t until Lizzy pointed out her mom in a magazine during a visit to the agency that it became clear who she was.

It turned out that being Mick and Jerry’s daughter was no bad thing in the fashion world – judging from the overwhelming interest in Lizzy. She later told the British newspaper, “There were posters of me everywhere, so I don’t know what else I could expect. But I did start to realize that my life wasn’t like other people’s.”

At one point, the intense interest in her life proved a lot to handle for Lizzy. She even considered downplaying her background and quietly bowing out of modeling. But the star later conceded, “... It was too late: I’d already done it. So I had to just carry on and try not to overexpose myself.”

In order to manage the media’s curiosity in her, Lizzy moved from London to New York City aged just 16. And she felt more anonymous in her new city, telling The Daily Telegraph, “... There are no paparazzi there and none of that stalking on the street.” But that’s not to say that her modeling career suffered a setback.

Lizzy has gone on to have an impressive modeling career after walking her first runway shows for Vivienne Westwood and Thierry Mugler at the age of 14. Not only has she worked with a number of major brands – including Chanel – she’s also fronted campaigns for Burberry, Tommy Hilfiger, and Lancôme.

Naturally, Lizzy has enjoyed success in her own right. Though she’s admitted to being influenced by her famous mom and dad. In 2016 she told W magazine, “I’ve always been really inspired for makeup, hair and style by my mom. I got to see the evolution of her look when I was growing up and visiting her on modeling jobs.”

At one point, Lizzy was asked about the impact that Jerry has had on her career. The former responded, “She gives great advice. I was really lucky because, in addition to [that], she was also a great teacher. Her number one thing for modeling is to always work with the light. I think we forget that a lot with digital photography.”

Another lesson Jerry imparted on her eldest daughter was how to exit a car in a ladylike manner. According to Lizzy, this involved keeping the knees pushed together as you swivel your hips and then rising gracefully up. She told The Daily Telegraph, “My mother taught me to do that!”

Lizzy went on to tell the newspaper why getting out of a car properly mattered so much to Jerry. The model explained, “She’s forever tutting at pictures of girls showing their knickers in the papers and muttering, ‘She needs to go to etiquette school!’” But luckily for Lizzy, she had the perfect teacher in the form of her mom.

But did Lizzy inherit anything from Mick? Well, she answered in the affirmative during her interview with W magazine. The young model said, “For a guy, he takes pretty good care of his skin. He’s just got really good genes. [Mick] doesn’t do much with his hair. He’s lucky because it’s not falling out or going grey. He’s got miracle hair!”

Lizzy added, “Even though I take really good care of my hair, I’m really lucky that both of my parents have great hair, which I’ve inherited. I do get a lot of inspiration from [Mick’s] makeup looks from the 70s, which he doesn’t really go for anymore. He’s a bit more reserved with his makeup looks on stage these days.”

Lizzy appears to be pretty grounded – despite her legendary parents and successful modeling career. And for that too, she credits Mick and Jerry. In November 2019 Lizzy told W magazine, “It was important to my parents that we were able to cook and clean and take care of ourselves – that we didn’t turn out too spoiled.”

Mick and Jerry were apparently keen to teach their kids about environmental and social issues. And trips to locations in the Himalayas and Africa opened their eyes to the various injustices of the world. Lizzy revealed, “My parents always wanted us to be aware of what’s going on. We were never shielded from reality.”

In recent years, Lizzy has seemingly put her modeling career on the back burner in order to focus on activism. She has a particular interest in gender equality and advocates for women’s rights. And in September 2020 Lizzy became a mom for the first time after welcoming son Eugene with her partner – Christopher Behlau.

According to reports, Lizzy gave birth at London’s Chelsea and Westminster Hospital. The following month she and her documentary producer partner were said to be living with their newborn at their home in the U.K. capital. In November 2020 Jerry appeared to confirm the arrival of her grandson when she told The Mail on Sunday, “Being a granny is wonderful.”

Eugene was the latest member of the extensive Jagger brood. For her part, Jerry has no children outside of the four she shares with Mick. Though the Rolling Stones star is a father of eight. He had two kids prior to meeting Jerry. His first daughter – Karis – was born from his relationship with Marsha Hunt in 1970. He also has a daughter named Jade from his marriage to Bianca.

Mick’s marriage to Jerry resulted in a further four children, and the son that he fathered with Luciana Gimenez Morad took his tally to seven. His youngest child is Deveraux Octavian Basil Jagger, who was born in 2016 to his girlfriend Melanie Hamrick. At the time of Deveraux’s birth, Mick was 73 while Melanie was 29.

So, the Jagger family is clearly far from conventional, but they appear to get on just fine! The clan try to gather each year on New Year’s Eve and often support Mick when he’s on tour with The Rolling Stones. In her interview with W magazine, Lizzy described the brood as “a family traveling circus.”
