30 Game-Changing TikTok Recipes That People Can’t Stop Eating

If there’s anything foodies love doing more than eating, it’s discovering new and exciting recipes to try at home. That’s why TikTok’s food culture — known as #FoodTok — is so popular these days. Weird and wonderful things trend all the time, and the most delicious ones wind up being re-posted repeatedly by different users with unique personal twists. The following game-changing recipes all went viral, are all easy to make, and are adaptable to any palate. Best of all, though, they taste as incredible as they look. Trust us!

1. Dalgona coffee

Cast your mind back to 2020. The world had shut down while we all went into lockdown. People began sharing recipes on social media to a quarantined audience more than ready to try something new to take their minds off the scariness outside. One of the first to truly capture the imagination was the Dalgona coffee, a truly delightful whipped instant coffee drink. We still enjoy one every now and again, and we’ve also tried a few of the other variations which popped up in its wake — whipped strawberry milk and whipped Nutella milk!

2. Tortilla hack wraps

This TikTok hack will make your tortilla wraps extra special — and all you need to do is a bit of math! First, cut a slit from the middle of the wrap to the bottom, then put a different ingredient in each quadrant. Next, use the slit to fold the wrap up, right, then down, and you’ll have a perfectly layered lunch. You can use all kinds of ingredients in each quadrant, from chicken to bacon to red onion to mozzarella cheese. You could even fry or grill the wrap, too!

3. Corn ribs

TikToker Farrah Jalanbo told TODAY, “When I took my first bite it was like an explosion of flavors. I can’t explain why, but it’s so much more fun to eat corn on the cob this way.” What is she talking about, you may ask? Corn ribs, of course! By cutting corn into four, seasoning with spices and olive oil, then cooking in an air fryer, they curl into a rib-like shape. Sprinkle with crumbled cojita cheese and a spicy aioli, and you’ve got a party in your mouth where everyone is invited!

4. Hot chocolate bombs

“You’re not sure when the explosion will happen,” hot chocolate bomb enthusiast Stephanie Omens told The New York Times. “You wait in anticipation. And then, when it does, there’s joy.” She was referring to the trend of hollow chocolate moulds filled with marshmallow and candy being put into a mug, then covered in hot milk. Eventually, the heat leads to the mould dissolving and all the yummy contents spilling out into the milk, making a uniquely fun drink. There’s nothing like a bit of food theater to brighten your day!

5. French onion pasta

French onion soup is super rich and decadent — and that goes double for French onion pasta! In January 2022 Carolyn Wong posted her one pot pasta recipe to TikTok and it went viral, gaining millions of views and inspiring an Independent article by Aaron Hutcherson. He tried it out, and declared the dish, “a carby, saucy, cheesy, oniony bowl of pasta that lives up to the hype and my expectations.” It’s intentionally simple and can be accomplished with ingredients most people already have in their cupboards, so be sure to try it out.

6. Pesto eggs

When TikToker Amy Wilichowski uploaded her pesto eggs recipe in April 2021, she couldn’t have predicted quite how huge it would become. The video received 1.5 million likes, which is crazy in and of itself, but according to HuffPost, online searches for “pesto eggs” shot up a mind-boggling 130 percent as well! Not bad for a fairly simple — but insanely delicious — breakfast idea involving eggs fried in pesto instead of oil, then placed on top of toast with smashed avocado, ricotta, honey, and chilli flakes. Trust us, the combination of tastes is to die for!

7. S’mores cones

There’s something about eating s’mores that will turn even the most grown-up, seemingly mature adult into a little kid again. Melted marshmallow and chocolate sandwiched between two golden Graham crackers? It’s a taste that just screams childhood! If you want to rediscover that taste — but with a new #FoodTok twist — then try making a s’mores cone. All you do is put marshmallows and chocolate pieces inside a waffle cone, wrap that bad boy in foil, and toast over a roaring campfire. It’s sweet, it’s gooey, it’s rich, it’s crunchy — all in all, it’s amazing.

8. Watermelon pizza

Watermelon pizza is pretty much exactly what it sounds like! Cut a flat round of watermelon, top with feta, basil, red onion, and balsamic vinegar, then slice into triangles — hey presto, you’ve got a fruit pizza! The best thing about this recipe is that it’s super simple, but also super fun. You won’t exactly be stretching your cooking abilities very far, but it will be guaranteed to raise a smile from anyone you set it in front of! It’s watermelon, but in pizza form! What’s not to like?!

9. Crinkle dessert

A TikToker named Ramena created what became known as the “crinkle dessert” and it was soon adopted by legions of fans on the platform. A phyllo dough-based treat, it’s made with custard and sugar syrup, then adorned with anything from strawberries to rose petals to pistachios. Delish’s Felicia Lalomia tried out the recipe, and raved that it “tasted like the love child of a kringle and baklava, with just a hint of cinnamon-spiked sticky bun. The soft and creamy interior contrasted brilliantly with a crunchy phyllo crust, which shattered gloriously against my teeth.” Yum!

10. Pancake spaghetti

Don’t you just hate it when something you’ve created gains millions of views on TikTok, but people give it the wrong name?! Well, it’s never happened to us, but it did happen to Steven Archuleta’s “squiggle cakes,” a charming breakfast idea he invented for his kids! When wife Briana showed off the unique recipe online, it went viral as “pancake spaghetti.” Now, this does arguably describe the recipe — pancake batter piped into a frying pan in thin strips, then covered in syrup or powdered sugar — more accurately, so perhaps squiggle cakes can just stay a family moniker!

11. Crispy beans

This recipe from Justine Doiron racked up 165,000 views, which means a lot of people probably took her lead and turned their boring canned butter beans into delicious crispy beans. It’s a simple recipe, involving breading the beans with flour and seasoning, slathering them in olive oil, then baking to golden perfection. If you’re inviting friends around for a dinner party and want to have a unique, delicious side to serve — or maybe you just want a crunchy treat with hummus as a snack — you should definitely give Justine’s beans a whirl!

12. Snickers stuffed dates

Have you ever wanted to eat a Snickers completely guilt-free? We’ve got a sweet tooth, so we know we have! What if we told you there is an answer, though? It’s a simple matter of removing the pit from dates, stuffing them with peanut butter and chopped peanuts, then drizzling chocolate over the top, before sprinkling with some sea salt. Put the unique concoctions in the fridge for a few hours, and you’ve got a healthy alternative to a candy bar that will give you virtually the same taste.

13. Baked feta pasta

This super popular recipe began life in Finland, when food blogger Jenni Häyrinen posted it in 2019. By September 2020 she claimed, “The feta cheese sales went up 300 percent, the shops were running out of baked feta pasta ingredients, and by this date the original… post has over 2.7 million views. Finland has 5.5 million inhabitants!” If you want to be like half the population of Finland and try it yourself, all you need is a pasta of your choosing, tomatoes, fresh basil, and a block of feta cheese. Give it a go!

14. Birria tacos

Everyone loves a taco, right? Tacos are incredible. But have you ever tasted a birria taco? If your answer is “no,” you’re not alone, because when this traditional Mexican recipe went viral in 2020, tons of people had no idea what a birria taco even was! The term is said to mean, “Exquisite savory dish, full of culture and tradition” and the recipe originated in Jalisco. It’s basically a goat stew, but TikTokers customized it by making it with beef, pork, and lamb. Throw that rich stew in a tortilla with cheese, coriander, and onion, and you’ll be in taco heaven.

15. Bell pepper sandwich

This TikTok innovation from My Nguyen went so viral that Gordon Ramsay himself — yes, Chef Ramsay — posted a video reacting to it! Admittedly, he wasn’t too fond of Nguyen’s idea for a Bell pepper sandwich — literally an orange pepper cut in half and stuffed with turkey, cream cheese, and Everything But The Bagel seasoning. An aghast Ramsay declared, “That’s not a low-carb sandwich. That is an idiot sandwich!” However, TikTok didn’t seem to feel the same, as people kept posting their own versions of Nguyen’s innovation — so she must have done something right!

16. Green Goddess Salad

“Baked By Melissa” became a sensation when she posted her recipe for Green Goddess Salad on TikTok in September 2021. It was viewed over 22 million times, became the sixth most Googled recipe of 2022, and got her an appearance on the TODAY Show! Hell, even Lizzo posted a video saying, “I’ve been haunted by this salad, and now I’m finally, finally, finally doing it.” Her wide eyes and delighted expression when she tasted it spoke volumes! The luminous green dip goes perfectly with chips, and can be slathered on tacos, or spread on toast for a healthy breakfast.

17. Ranch pickles

Do you like pickles? Of course you do. Now, do you like ranch dressing? Of course you do. But have you ever thought of combining the two flavors — and not simply by dipping a pickle in some creamy ranch. TikToker Jen Curley showed the world that if you pour ranch seasoning into a pickle jar, shake it up, then refrigerate for a while, you’ve just opened yourself up to a whole new world of taste! However, you will then face a dilemma do you, or do you not, drink the leftover brine-y ranch-y juice?!

18. Carrot bacon

This vegan recipe for carrot bacon almost melted our brain. “Carrot… bacon…?” we said incredulously. But the thin strips of carrot TikToker Tabitha Brown coated in maple syrup and liquid smoke, then put in her air fryer for five minutes, really did look and taste bacon-y! She told Tasting Table, “That little bit of that sweetness and smokiness is what gives you that bacon flavor. That’s the thing about real bacon. People think that they crave bacon for the thought of bacon, but… if you can get the same flavor and the same texture, then you’ve got bacon!”

19. Custard yoghurt toast

This recipe is awesome because it’s unique and tasty, but also highly customizable. The method is simple — mix a raw egg with Greek yoghurt and honey to make a custard-like liquid, then make a well in a piece of bread with the back of a fork and pour it in. Bake in the oven for 15 minutes, and you’ve got a deliciously sweet treat for breakfast! You can then add a variety of toppings — berries, chocolate, banana, toffee, apple — to keep things interesting day to day. Pretty cool, huh?

20. Coconut cloud smoothie

In 2022 Erewhon Market in Los Angeles began selling a brilliantly blue drink called the “Coconut Cloud smoothie.” It was so popular that it went viral on TikTok, but here’s the rub — it cost 17 bucks. This sky-high price led to a number of TikTokers posting instructional videos on how to recreate the smoothie at home. The extensive ingredient list — avocados, bananas, pineapple cubes, almond butter and milk, coconut cream, vanilla protein collagen, and Blue Majik Spirulina extract — mean it’s not the simplest recipe ever, but it is super tasty!

21. Chocolate strawberry turkeys

This Thanksgiving, be sure to give your family something special — a chocolate strawberry turkey! “What the heck is a chocolate strawberry turkey?” you may ask, and the answer is simple — it’s a chocolate-covered strawberry which looks like a little turkey because of the pretzel sticks stuck to the side by mini marshmallows. These unique treats tend to start doing the rounds on TikTok in the lead-up to the holiday season, and they always make us smile. If nothing else, they’ll definitely impress the kids at your family holiday bashes!

22. Campfire queso

When we saw this recipe on TikTok, we practically had to wipe the drool off our phone screen! Over a campfire, a user named The Stay At Home Cook cooked up sausage meat in a skillet. Then she added beer, reduced the heat for a few minutes, before adding a truly Herculean amount of Velveeta cheese. Canned tomatoes and corn followed, and the whole thing became a gloopy, cheese-y dip which she loaded onto a salty tortilla chip. We can’t think of a more perfect thing to eat during an evening’s camping under the stars with good friends.

23. Spicy air fryer shrimp

Until we saw this recipe from TikToker Jackie Hartlaub — known as “Low Carb State of Mind” on the platform — we mostly used our air fryer for fries. Now we know the error of our ways, because we’ve tasted Hartlaub’s unspeakably delicious seasoned spicy shrimp cooked in just seven minutes, then dipped in chipotle herb butter. She uses Dan-O’s Hot Chipotle Seasoning, but also recommended other brands such as Lawry’s Garlic & Salt and Old Bay, and the herb butter is by Minerva Dairy. It’s making our mouth water just thinking about it!

24. Freddo cappuccino

The next time you feel like getting your caffeine fix with an iced coffee, don’t head down to your local Starbucks. Instead, take the lead from the Freddo Cappuccino TikTok craze, and make yourself an insanely yummy Greek treat at home — assuming you have a coffeemaker, of course! Simply brew a double espresso and froth it up. Next, froth up some skimmed milk. Then, pour the two froths into a glass with some ice and a tablespoon of sugar, before mixing it to perfection. You won’t regret it!

25. Pasta chips

The next time you’re having friends over to watch the game, don’t spend a fortune on bags of chips for everyone to munch on. Instead, try pasta chips, a TikTok sensation whose hashtag racked up an astonishing 615 million views. Boil some farfalle pasta, then season with grated parmesan, garlic powder, olive oil, and onion powder, before throwing them in your air fryer for seven minutes — turning halfway through. The result is a crunchy, salty, cheese-y delight that your friends will definitely love — which will no doubt encourage them to try the recipe themselves!

26. Hasselback waffle potatoes

Is there anything more adaptable than the potato? Seriously, they come in so many forms, and we’d be hard pressed to point to a variety we don’t like! The latest advancement in potato technology is the Hasselback waffle — a twist on the classic Dutch style. After following TikTok’s instructions to cut the top of a flat square of potato into tinier squares, The Kitchn writer Sara Tane gushed that it was “a beautiful thing because you get a crispy, almost chip-like texture on the top and then a baked potato vibe on the bottom.”

27. Cloud bread

One of the keys to a TikTok recipe going viral is simplicity — people want to be able to recreate it at home with a minimum of fuss, after all. Cloud bread, which came to people’s attention thanks to a user named “linqanaa,” is the poster child for simplicity. It only has three ingredients — egg whites, corn starch, white sugar — which makes it a super low-carb, gluten-free option for people who want to move away from normal bread. You don’t need any true baking skill, and it can be made in a half-hour!

28. Jam seltzer

This idea is so simple that it’s stretching credulity to even call it a recipe — but it’s unspeakably tasty, so we’ll go with it! TikToker “katchaomeow” captured lightning in a bottle — or, in this case, a glass — when she suggested adding a dollop of jam to your seltzer for a fruity summer beverage. Country Living magazine’s Christopher Michel attested, “I was genuinely surprised by just how good it is. It’s a lot like an endlessly adjustable adult-flavored soda, but the sweetness is much more mild — especially if you’re just using one scoop of jam.”

29. Cowboy caviar

Cowboy caviar. Texas caviar. Summer salad. Whatever you want to call it, when TikToker “brialem” brought this incredibly vibrant, delicious dip to the attention of the internet, people went wild for it. Essentially a pinto/black bean salad that can be eaten with tortilla chips, or added to a burrito, or even eaten on its own, it began life in the ’40s as “Texas Caviar.” It’s super delicious, of course, but the ingredients — including peppers, mango, cucumber, peach, and feta cheese — give it a really colorful visual appeal too.

30. Japanese soufflé pancakes

If you’ve ever eaten a pancake and wished it was lighter and fluffier, then boy, oh boy, do we have the game-changing TikTok recipe for you! “giorgiafitfood” posted an instructional video for making Japanese soufflé pancakes, and the internet totally flipped out at how delicate, squishy, and airy they looked. Interestingly, the recipe was actually created by a Hawaiian chef who wasn’t a fan of pancakes but did love soufflés. So, he had the bright idea of combining pancake and soufflé batter. They soon became especially beloved in — you guessed it — Japan!
